Who doesn’t love sitting on a porch at sunset enjoying the last moments of a summer night?

Using the products I had on hand, I wanted to make use of leftover timber from a swingset playhouse rebuild. I had some beautiful white oak I had been waiting to find a project for, at a hefty 2 inches thick. This seemed like the perfect idea. Constructed with treated 4x4’s for the legs, 2x4 for the aprons and given two coats of outdoor stain, I knew I had a table that could stand up to the elements. The joinery used was hardwood dowels and to keep the top in place, I used Z clips. Since this project would live outside, I added a drip edge underneath so if anything spilled, it wouldn’t run under the table.

To ensure a long lasting top, I used Waterlox Original Sealer to penetrate and seal the wood. This was followed up with Waterlox Marine Finish. This combination provides a deep penetrating and waterproof finish. It will protect against UV rays, harsh weather and moisture exposure.
